My friend, Jacqueline Roberts

Picture
A native Kentuckian, Jackie is best known nationally as an interpreter of the music of the famed American composer, John Jacob Niles.  She worked with Mr Niles during the last 13 years of his life and appeared with the balladeer and composer in many of his concerts.  Niles wrote music for Jackie's voice and she sings this music just as the composer intended it to sound.

Jackie performed the Niles music in many venues; a few of those being Colgate University, Oberlin College, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, New York University, the Smithsonian Museum, and many others.
Jacqueline Roberts appeared with John Jacob Niles in two documentary films, Vibrations, made by PBS, and a biographical film by Appalshop Films.

Jackie is a versatile singer, which goes back to her years growing up in a musical family known as The Warnich Family Band.  After graduating from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, she worked at Cain Park Theater in Cleveland, Ohio, singing leads in some of the great musicals.

Jacqueline taught at Eastern Kentucky University, and now resides in Florida.  Several of her former students are now performing on Broadway in New York City.
